God Helps Uganda can be supported through donations, prayer, or hands-on volunteering on site. God Helps Uganda is entirely funded by donations (with the exception of the primary school).
What your contribution achieves
Currently 30 local staff members support around 220 children in the home and FEP, guiding them towards a hopeful and independent future. On average, God Helps Uganda spends CHF 170 per month, or CHF 2,040 per year, per child in care. This includes the following:
- Daily care
- Personal and family support, encouragement
- Educational support up to and including initial vocational training
- Medical and psychological assistance
- Logistical and administrative work
In addition, we have the privilege of educating more than 100 external children in kindergarden and primary school.
On-site engagement
Practical assignments in Uganda are generally possible. The scope of activities is determined according to the current needs on site as well as the volunteers’ experience and professional background. We welcome enquiries and applications—please get in touch with @email .
Products from Uganda
At market stalls, products are sold that are imported into Switzerland in small quantities free of charge by God Helps Uganda. These include Ugandan handicrafts and other small items.
Also available are the products at the GHU stall during the Christmas market, held every November on the grounds of the Schulheim Zizers, as well as at the annual God Helps Foundation festival, which takes place each September in Trimmis.
Crafts
Uganda’s markets offer a wealth of local craftsmanship. Carved animals, decorative artworks, pictures, traditional African toys, and flowing summer dresses can be purchased at the GHU stalls during the Christmas market or the annual festival.
You will also find everyday items - from pot holders and carved salad servers to tea, coffee, and spices from Africa - things you need anyway. By purchasing these products, you are simultaneously supporting the work in Uganda.
